Y’all know I love sentimental gifts and surprises. At the beginning of this year, Kyle asked me to make some pillows from her mom’s clothes to gift her family at their upcoming mountain vacation. After giving me some of her mom’s outfits, she told me to “use your creativity to make some other stuff.” You can only imagine my excitement to such liberty! Over the last few months I’ve been busy as a bee. Since I love surprises, I didn’t tell her what all I planned to do…

I love for surprises to be personal so I did a little FaceBook reading from Kyle’s page to learn more about her mom, Sandy. That information was easy to find about someone so loved! Sandy was big on her faith. She loved the Lord and her family very much. She enjoyed being creative especially through painting, drinking diet coke with her friends, purses, and going to garage sales! I sort of felt like she was someone I would have liked to hang around! 😉

When I read that Sandy liked purses, I knew I had to make one with her clothes…

The inside fabric is sunflowers because Sandy liked them and could be found doodling them from time to time!🌻

I had so much fun with that one, I had to make another. This one is a boho bag made with Sandy’s jeans, shirt remnants, a necklace, yard sale lace/trim and a faux suede jacket from Goodwill! 😍

It felt like I would have had Sandy’s check of approval since some of the items used to make the bags were found at yard sales.

Check out the back side…. Circles cut from Sandy’s shirt…

Her camo pants made the cutest little canteen back pack!!

Ok, so I really got into fringe this spring. I love it and the beads… 😎 pocket from another pair of Sandy’s pants.

Last, but not least are what I’m calling “Sandy’s Sew Sweet Bracelets” and necklace. Because, well, aren’t they sew sweet?! 🧵🪡📍 Made from her jean zipper, sleeves, and fabric. I thought this would be a cool way to wear her memory or even let it hang from a rear view mirror.

To Kyle, Shaya, Tim, Lynna, Max, Olivia, Cindy, Karry, and Mandy…
Your gifts may not be completely perfect but were made thoughtfully with love! I enjoyed every moment of making them. I pray you find much joy and comfort with your gifts, remembering just how much Sandy ( Mom/Mimi ) loves you. When you get to missing her, I hope you’ll sip a diet coke in her honor and maybe even stick a hand in her pocket. – Payton

Until next time!
With sew much love,
Payton
